Things to do in Yangtze River Cruise

Travel FAQS
  • Japan: Japanese Yen (JPY). Cash is still widely used, especially in smaller shops, rural areas, and temples. Credit cards are commonly accepted in major hotels, department stores, and restaurants in big cities.
  • China: Chinese Yuan (CNY / Renminbi). While cash is accepted, mobile payments like Alipay and WeChat Pay are widely used. Some international credit cards may not work in smaller shops, so it’s advisable to carry some cash or use mobile payment apps.
  • Japan: Airports, banks, and post offices are the safest places. Avoid unofficial money changers.
  • China: Use banks, official hotel exchanges, or airport counters. Avoid street exchangers to prevent scams.

Your final documents — including your detailed itinerary, hotel list, transport tickets and pre-departure guide — will be sent 2–3 weeks before departure.

Three Bears Travel offers a range of tour styles — Group Tours, Day Tours and Custom Tours — and guiding arrangements vary depending on the destination and the nature of the experience.

Group Tours:

Some group tours include a dedicated guide, while others may be designed for self-guided exploration where this is part of the experience. Guiding arrangements will be clearly specified for each itinerary.

Day Tours:

Most day tours include a local guide; however, certain attractions may be suitable for self-guided visits. We will provide recommendations based on the destination.

Custom Tours:

If you have specific needs or prefer a more personalised experience, our Custom Tour service allows you to tailor your trip exactly as you wish — including the option to add guides, drivers or special activities. Simply share your requirements with us, and we will design a customised itinerary to suit you.

Besides your visa, it’s recommended to have:

  • Return flight tickets
  • Accommodation information
  • Proof of sufficient funds

Always check official sources before your trip, as regulations may change.

Dress code is generally casual. When visiting religious sites, clothing covering arms and legs may be required. Smart casual is recommended for evenings. A packing list will be included in your final documentation.

Your health and safety are paramount to Three Bears Travel. Some of our itineraries include difficult conditions which can make physical activities challenging. You should be in reasonably good health and be able to participate in all activities unaided. We recommend you see your doctor at least six weeks prior to travel for advice and to allow time for any necessary vaccinations. Please remember to take your itinerary with you.

Passengers with existing medical conditions and food allergies must advise Three Bears Travel at time of booking.

Most travelers require a visa or electronic travel authorization to enter Japan or China. Please check the official government websites for the most up-to-date information:
